How to Use Our Degreaser

Every skull, hide, and setup is different. Degreasing results can vary depending on the specimen, amount of grease present, water temperature, equipment, agitation, and overall setup.

Our degreaser is designed to be used as part of a complete degreasing process. Because there are many variables involved, we do not provide one specific step-by-step process or guaranteed timeline.

General Use

Recommended starting mixture:

Mix 1 fl oz of Wedl’s Wildlife Creations All Purpose Taxidermy Degreaser per gallon of water.

Add the appropriate amount of degreaser to your degreasing container and allow the product to work as part of your normal degreasing process. Monitor your specimen and adjust your process as needed based on the individual specimen and your setup.

There is no single process that works exactly the same for every specimen. Factors such as species, age, condition, previous treatment, grease content, water temperature, container size, circulation, and frequency of solution changes can all affect the results.

How long does it take for a skull to be complete?

It really depends on a lot of different factors, including the type and size of the skull, how you deflesh it, and your setup. Some skulls can be completed relatively quickly, while others take considerably longer depending on how clean the skull is to start with and the whitening and drying process. There isn’t really a set time that applies to every skull.
